Cardiff Demons Ice Hockey

The Cardiff Rec League is an idea that has been suggested for several years but has now become a reality. With Rec hockey in South Wales thriving it was time to put together a structured league, with the aim of creating stronger bonds and friendship among Rec teams in Cardiff. During the regular hockey season, ice time is a premium and difficult to get hold of for games.

Tony Day put the idea on paper last year and from it, albeit loosely interpreted, came the successful DCF Summer Tournament. Based on the success and concept of the Summer Tournament, members of the Titans, Comets, Demons, Lightning, Redhawks and Ice Hounds got together with the aim of setting up this Rec League. The league was put together by it's members and run for the benefit of all the teams involved. Each team has an equal say on issues surrounding the league with fun and friendship being it's main objective.

With the help of each team the aim is to make this an annual event and improve ties between the University, Women and rec teams in Cardiff.

Format:

·         No Body-checking.
·         2 x 25 min running clock periods (5 min warm up, 5 min break)
·         Minor Pens to be 1 minute (3 minors out of game)
·         Minor penalties to be self-regulated, by team bench
·         5 or 10 min major out of game, plus next game
·         Anything worse, goes to committee
·         No fighting or abuse of official will be tolerated
·         7 goal margin "mercy" rule (Score to stop being counted)
·         Bonus point for "mercy" win
·         Change goalies if 7 goal lead emerges (at discretion of teams on night)
·         Registered players only
