Theres no substitute for good coaching but if you want to supplement what you learn at training with some reading there are plenty of hockey websites that can help.
HOCKEY PLAYER DEVELOPER
Although this website doesn't contain the basics, it does cover everything you need to know to play in a game, from where to stand at a face off to what each position should do in different situations. It is mainly text based with a few diagrams. It can be heavy reading but the content is excellent.
HOCKEYSHOT
This website is great for beginners as it covers many of the basics - skating, wristshots, slapshots, etc. There are instructions diagrams and videos. Adverts can be a bit annoying but other than that a great site.
FLEXXCOACH
Some high quality videos featuring NHL coachs. Video may be a bit slow to download and some of them are pay per view.
JES HOCKEY
Horrible looking site that might be useful for teams wanting to learn some drills and set plays. The drills are animated.
YOU TUBE - HOCKEY DRILLS
YOU TUBE - SKATE BACKWARDS
Great place to pick up some tips for training drills and a good video to learn to skate backwards!
